Apple fans, prepare yourself for some disappointment simply because it seems like the iPhone 7 launch will be later than expected ...
The ever trusted 9to5Mac has acquired information from a source at AT&T which reveals the iPhone 7 and the larger dual cam iPhone 7 Plus will not go on sale up till September 23rd.
This contradicts information from last month by famed tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) who said online sales would start on September 16th following pre-orders on September 9th. So, looking at this positively, you'll get an extra week or so to save up!
Of greater substance is the fact AT&T's leaked date ties in more closely with recent iPhone release schedules. Last week Bloomberg attained information confirming a September 7th unveiling (the date I predicted a week earlier) and Bloomberg and Blass both anticipate pre-orders to begin on September 9th.
This slots in perfectly with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus pre-orders started on September 12th and they reached shop floors on September 25th. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, however were slightly faster to market place having been introduced on September 9th, pre-orders opening on September 12th (again) and landing in retailers on September 19th. That's a 10 day gap versus the 16 day gap for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
at this point we know practically everything about the iPhone 7: its main specifications, cam changes, long expected improvement, most controversial omission and potential disappointments.
Now all we need is Apple to officially reveal the iPhone 7 event. According to past experience, that should be about 2 weeks ahead of time so we're taking a look at the final week of August. If I must guess, I 'd say August 25th or 26th.
Now let's just wish Tim Cook has a surprise or two up his sleeve and isn't leaving all the rewards to the re-imagined iPhone 8 in 2017 ...
